The mission of the ICNF - Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests, is to propose, monitor and ensure the implementation of policies for the conservation of nature and forests, aiming at conservation, sustainable use, appreciation, enjoyment and public recognition of the natural patrimony.

Nature Tourism Enterprises are establishments that are intended to provide accommodation services to tourists in Classified Areas and / or in the area covered by the Natural.PT brand.

This recognition is based on the implementation and adherence to a set of requirements and criteria for good environmental practices and participation in at least one nature and biodiversity conservation project.

The following types can be recognized as a Nature Tourism Enterprise:

• Hotel establishments;
• Tourist villages;
• Tourist apartments;
• Tourist resorts (resorts);
• Housing tourism developments;
• Tourism enterprises in rural areas;
• Campsites and caravan sites.
